Welcome to our WordPress How To pages. WordPress is one of the most comprehensive, easy-to-use web platforms available. And the really cool thing is, it’s totally free. You can either download WordPress to host it on your own site, or you can host it at WordPress.com for free. Here’s how.
How to Start a Blog for Free Using WordPress
Create an Account at WordPress.com
- Go to WordPress.com.
- Click the big orange Sign up now button.
- Add a user name. Use all lowercase characters with no symbols.
- Add a password. Use numbers, symbols, upper case, and lower case letters to create a password. If your password is not strong enough, WordPress will ask you to enter another password before continuing.
- Add your email address.
- Click the Next button.
- Choose your blog name. Use letters and numbers only. It CANNOT be changed, so choose wisely.
- Edit the blog title if you wish.
- Select the language you will write your blog in.
- Check the Privacy box if you want Google and other search engines to know your blog exists.
- Click the Signup button.
- Check the email account you used to sign up. You should find an email from WordPress.com.
- Click the link in the email from WordPress.com to confirm your account.
